Shooting Against The Grain
A while ago, my new barber, told me he may need my help on an upcoming project. After seeing some photos I took during his first visit, I knew he was impressed and I definitely couldn't wait to use my camera.
After explaining that his team Against The Grain was competing in a hair competition as a Barbering group, I was highly interested myself. The competition was held at the University Of D.C.'s theater and oddly enough, there was actually parking available. I think just got there early.
The atmosphere was dope. I mean, after I got in and went behind stage, my man Chosen introduced me to everyone and I got to shooting. Everyone was in one big area together. getting outfits and hair together. I
t was a fashion show for real. People were trying to hurry and get finishing touches on everything done. Against The Grain was cutting hair, doing makeup, and preparing outfits literally the entire time I was there. Even during the Show. They had their space set up with everything they needed to get it all done. And start a nice electrical fire as well. Everyone was pretty cool. Against The Grain was the only one with music and a speaker. In my opinion, they were the life of the event.
The craftsmanship on a lot of what I saw that night was incredible. And I was definitely glad to be there to capture it.
