Chilling with Chosen

Going to the barbershop takes a lil much these days. Well for me, its been. Simple haircut prices are skyrocketing. I once saw $30 for a fade. I didn't need one that bad. So far the barbers I've been able to work with keep it at $20. But damn, I remember when a haircut was $12 plus tip. I feel like I'm paying him $20 just to show up to the shop now. I might as well be considering you have to set up appointments now. Or maybe that's just my barber. But I digress.

One day, I show up at the park to meet my friends and hang out. I find one of them at the park bench getting his hair cut. I started thinking damn that's a dope business idea. It's relaxing, on location, and whenever he shows up, it's your turn to get cut. The Barber goes by Chosen the Barber. I took his card, and recently had the opportunity to use his services. My mom who was trying out a short cut and was looking for a good barber, asked about having Chosen come through and cut her, my brother and myself since we were due anyway. Honestly, I was all for the idea. However, my dad wasn't. I guess he was missing the traditional barbershop experience. I could understand that a bit. Then I remembered how often my uncle Johnny used to cut my hair and my dad used to always tell him to put that part in my head. Which I thought was weird at the time but with all the designs people are getting now, the part seems normal. Anyway, I hit my man Chosen up, and he agreed to cut us all for $20 a head. Great! That's definitely worth it. To be in the comfort of your own home. I told him to come on through, Saturday morning around 9, and be prepared for my dad to change his mind and get a

cut too after he sees how great that work is. So does an $80 for a house call sound nice? It sure as hell does to me. Especially when its only your 9 a.m. appointment and you've got about 5 more to go. BET! He told me a bit about how he plans to continur being a mobile barber. Another topic we spoke on was his dedication to the art of barbering, the culture behind it and how he feels that visiting a barbershop is still a

important part of our society and being a "real" barber.

I just couldn't help but take some pretty awesome images while my bro Tango was in the chair. This was definitely an experience. New friends, new adventures, and a new way to live. If you'd like to contact Chosen yourself, just send a message to @lewchosen on Instagram. That usually works for me.
